WHY NOT BE THE ALTERNATIVE?

Dear Green Party of Canada,

What if you dropped the misinformation, at least for official statements on key platform items. During yesterday's policy announcement in Toronto you made some fairly absurd claims.

Statement: “Canada, year on year in the last six years has seen greenhouse gas emissions rise. Year on year every year for the past six years.”

Reality: Firstly, 2019 is the latest data we have, so you're starting with a misleading statement. Secondly, in 2016 Canada's GHG emissions dropped 2.2%, from 723Mt of CO2 to 707Mt. Thirdly, due to COVID and significant declines in transportation (which typically yields twice as much CO2 as residential and commercial sources and five times that of agriculture), '20-'21 will most likely see significant decreases in GHG emissions.

Statement: "We normally have a forest fire season but we have never seen one this bad.”

Reality: Canada's 2021 wildfire season is ongoing and has been bad; but there are recent fire seasons on record, several of them, with a greater number of fires, a larger area burned, and with more property damaged or destroyed.

All of this is just to say, folks do not need additional reasons to distrust government, feel the major parties don't represent them, or to not bother voting. You could be a real alternative.
